EPISODE 27: 3 SIGNS TO WATCH FOR WHEN IN A LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP

Many people question how long-distance relationships work and whether they’re worth it.

If you are dealing with a long-distance relationship and curious if it’s working, watch this video to learn about 3 signs of a healthy long-distance relationship.

Long-distance relationships have been on the rise ever since good “old” technology has gotten more and more sophisticated over the years.

From video chatting, social media, to meet-up apps, there is an infinite number of ways to find love and maintain the relationship while being physically apart.

In addition, globalization of career paths (“Sure, I’ll move to the London office for a year to start up that new department.”) and an increasing number of “digital nomads” where travelling is a way of life have made starting romantic relationships a worldly endeavour.

When we hear that someone’s partner lives outside the country, no one bats an eye.

“Oh we see each other the last weekend of every month and it’s been like that for the past 3 years.”

As someone who doesn’t have much experience with long-distance relationships, I reached out to my friend, Jane Fang for her knowledge and expertise on long-distance relationships.

She’s been in one where it didn’t work out; however, she’s also experienced one where it did. She recently married to her long-distance boyfriend.

Here are her 3 signs of a healthy and working long-distance relationship:

1. Both of you look forward to being together

Are you guys excited to see each other?

Does the time leading up to meeting up make you feel giddy?

You just can’t wait to be together?

If you answered yes, then this is a good sign that it’s going to work out.

2. Both of you have constant and consistent communication

Are you scheduling calls and video chats on a regular basis?

Do you rarely miss these moments when you can connect with one another?

Are you both putting effort into making time for each other and communicating mutually?

And when you do talk, are you having quality conversations (not passing out due to different time zones)?

If you answered yes, then this is a good sign that it’s going to work out.

3. Both of you have thought and talked about where and what the future might hold

Where is this going?

Do you plan to move where they are? Or do you prefer they move to where you are?

Have you thought about where the relationship is going to be in the next 3 months?

6 months?

1 year from now?
